a year of love.

i asked god for love & i was shown my reflection

i huffed & said "what's this? get away! i want some affection!"

- "love is not given, it's what you reclaim;

sit still with your suffering, & see what remains."

so i sat, & i sat, but still to no avail:

"the only thing i see is a heart broken & frail!"

- "you see it then" god said through a smile,

"fix that first, it will be worth your while."

my heart has been polished & filled to the brim,

it's shining, thumping, bursting out from within.

the love i thought i lost was right here in front of me,

it will always be found, in dear friends & family.
