BODYWORK

Massage therapy is an intuitive, healing art that has been around for thousands of years. Our first response to pain or ache is to rub the affected area, this instinctual reaction to apply touch in order to heal are the basic principles behind what a massage is.
Massage activates a natural healing process by stimulating blood flow & guiding hormone production, which helps the body function healthily & heal itself. Regular massage is encouraged to compliment healthy body & mind, as well a vital part of being human by experiencing connection, touch & intimacy.
Similarly to yoga, there are many holistic & therapeutic styles to massage, below are the types of treatments I offer

bodywork: Classes

SWEDISH MASSAGE

The Swedish massage is one of the most common types of massages you will find, it is performed to energize the body & improve overall health. This type of massage involves actions like percussion, kneading, vibration, tapping & rolling. Massage oil or lotion is used to protect the skin from friction which in turn moisturises & tones the skin

DEEP TISSUE

This massage involves similar elements to a Swedish massage but involves work on more obscure muscles & connective tissue in a particular area. Certain trigger points around the body will receive firm pressure with repetitive movements, working into areas of restriction or “knots”, with the intention of causing release of that knot

BALINESE MASSAGE

Touch & affection is very natural in Indonesian society. "Pijat" is the Indonesian word for massage, it is not uncommon to see people here massaging each others sore muscles & applying touch to heal in order to maintain good health from birth throughout the life cycle.
The Balinese massage is derived from centuries of holistic therapies & massage knowledge, it combines the techniques from Chinese, Ayurvedic, Javanese & Swedish massage
